Known to be the busiest and the most crowded metro stations of the Delhi Metro service, Rajiv Chowk witnessed a surge of people, despite trains running at peak frequencies during the #OddEven rule. Monday, January 4th was the first day after the holidays when after three days of implementation the Delhi government’s #OddEven rule faced the litmus test. Fiinovation understands that citizens and students of Delhi rushed to their work and colleges highlighting the need of infrastructural support in public transport.
Fiinovation reviews that there was huge surge of people which rushed to the metro stations to travel to their respective offices and colleges. There was already discussions of Rajiv Chowk metro station during normal days and the day before Diwali where everyone rushed to reach where they wished to be. However, the #OddEven rule ensured twitter again trends sarcastic posts related to the Rajiv Chowk metro station.
Fiinovation understands that people have come together to support the cause of environment conservation, but the lack of infrastructural support ensured that people have to travel in congested public transport. Though the traffic was quite less as compared to normal days on roads which ensured people reached their destination quicker than ever, but it is to be understood that this cannot become a longterm solution untill there is efficient public transportation mechanism at place.
This not so pleasuristic situation of people dealing with the inefficiency of public transport became a source of inspiration for twitteraties to share their winter sweating experience on twitter. Fiinovation reviewed few of the tweets that were shared by the people experiencing the crowd surge at Rajiv Chowk metro station.

Priyanka Lahiri @lahirip
80 percent of the crowd in Rajiv chowk is made of people who went to take pictures of the crowd
Let’s hope the situation changes in time and public transport becomes much less crowded, safe and smoother way of transportation.
